What is Work Assist?

Work Assist is a free service funded by the Australian Government that helps both employees facing challenges stay employed and businesses retain valuable team members. The program provides support for employees experiencing difficulty fulfilling their roles due to injury, disability, or health conditions.

How Work Assist Can Help You:

The Work Assist program helps people with life challenges, injury, disability, or health conditions to continue working in their current job. We work alongside you to provide personalised support through challenging times.

Services We Provide:
  • Job Redesign: Expert advice on redesigning your job so you can keep working
  • Workplace Assessment: Comprehensive evaluations to identify helpful modifications
  • Specialised Equipment: Access to tools and technology that help you perform your job
  • Mental Health Support: Help with conditions like depression and anxiety
  • Allied Health Services: Access to physiotherapy, counselling, pain management and other supports
  • Workplace Modifications: Arranging reasonable adjustments to your workspace
  • Ongoing Support: We stay in touch to ensure everything runs smoothly for at least six months

Eligibility Requirements:

To qualify for Work Assist, you need to:

  • Have worked at least 8 hours per week for 13 consecutive weeks
  • Be currently employed and working at least 8 hours a week
  • Be at risk of losing your job because of your illness, injury or disability
  • Not be studying full-time
  • Be an Australian resident or a Temporary Protection Visa (TPV) or Safe Haven Enterprise Visa (SHEV) holder
  • Be aged between 14-65 years old

How the Program Works:
  1. Our experienced team meet with you to identify barriers preventing staff from performing their duties
  2. We work collaboratively with you, your staff member, and where appropriate, include team members and management
  3. We provide advice and assistance to overcome existing barriers
  4. Additional support is provided for a minimum of six months
