Anytime Fitness Busselton has won this year’s Inclusivity and Diversity Award at the 2021 Business Excellence Awards, run jointly by the Busselton and the Dunsborough Yallingup Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
The award, sponsored by Forrest Personnel, aims to celebrate those businesses who take steps to promote inclusion and diversity. Creating accessible spaces that enable people with disability to participate is a key part of that.
Operations manager Georgie Pinckney said the team at Anytime Fitness Busselton were delighted and grateful to have been named the winners.
“Inclusivity and diversity are things that we strive for, so to have this recognized is amazing,” she said.
“Some of our clients live with disability and it’s really about spending time with them, understanding what they need and making sure the equipment they use is right for them.
“It’s also about making sure our space is a welcoming space, where everything is accessible, so all clients can move around freely and safely.”
Ceri Price, general manager business development at Forrest Personnel, said it was important to acknowledge businesses like Anytime Fitness Busselton that made inclusion a priority.
“It is wonderful to see businesses taking time to create spaces and processes that allow people with disability to participate in society more fully,” he said.
“Understanding and catering for clients living with disability should be a priority for any business owner that wants to succeed, considering that one in five Australians live with disability.”
